Winter Resilience: 6-Week Breakdown

This course focuses on providing immediate, practical skills in Vagal Regulation and nervous system balance to quiet your body's “alarm system,” or lift it when it is fatigued or shutting down amidst the holiday chaos, allowing you to remain grounded and restored. In addition to the informational content, we will practice movement meditations and sitting NeuroMeditations each week.

Week 1: Mapping Your System & NeuroMeditation Basics (Dec. 2)

  • Anxiety & Stress Focus (Calming): Recognizing the HYPER (Fight/Flight) state—the system that feels too loud and overwhelmed.

  • Depression & Fatigue Focus (Lifting): Recognizing the HYPO (Freeze/Shut Down) state—the system characterized by exhaustion and emotional fatigue.

Week 2: Vagal Regulation – The System Switch (Dec. 9)

  • Anxiety & Stress Focus (Calming): Utilizing Focus NM to interrupt the activation signal and quiet the mind's rumination.

  • Depression & Fatigue Focus (Lifting): Introducing GEMS (small, positive sensory focuses) to gently activate and lift the system out of a shut-down state.

Week 3: Calming the Alarm System (Down-Regulation) (Dec. 16)

  • Anxiety & Stress Focus (Calming): Using physical anchors (sound, breath, touch) to reduce intensity and stabilize a hyper-activated nervous system.

  • Depression & Fatigue Focus (Lifting): Utilizing Nature and AWE memory/imagery within Focus NM to provide gentle engagement and comfort.

Week 4: Softening Emotional Fatigue (Up-Regulation) (Dec. 23)

  • Anxiety & Stress Focus (Calming): Using Open Heart to actively receive compassion and comfort, addressing self-critical stress.

  • Depression & Fatigue Focus (Lifting): Using Open Heart to soften deep inner pain and foster self-acceptance, gently lifting the hypo-state.

Week 5: Restoration and Resilience (Dec. 30)

  • Anxiety & Stress Focus (Calming): Using sensory details from Nature to bring the body back to a state of safety and peace.

  • Depression & Fatigue Focus (Lifting): Focusing on the feeling of being “Woven into Life” to counteract the isolation common with post-seasonal fatigue.

Week 6: Strategic Regulation & Personalized Toolkit (Jan. 6)

  • Anxiety & Stress Focus (Calming): Reviewing how to strategically choose Focus to quiet the loud “alarm system” before bringing in Mindfulness and/or Quiet Mind NM to fully calm the system and return to the relaxed ease of the ventral vagal complex

  • Depression & Fatigue Focus (Lifting): Reviewing how to choose between Focus or Open Heart based on whether the system is active/overwhelmed or dormant/fatigued.
