Dr. Kommu is a Licensed Clinical Psychologist in private practice since 2012 at Mind Body Connection, Inc. in Warrenton, Virginia. During her doctoral training, she gained experience in CBT, mindfulness, and psychodynamic therapy.

She has had a passion for yoga and meditation since her childhood in India. She became certified as a yoga therapist in 2015 (C-IAYT). Through her extensive training in Yoga of Awareness for Cancer, Yoga for Seniors (Duke Integrative Medicine), and Cardiac Yoga (Positive Health Solutions), she has learned to integrate mindfulness, yoga, and CBT techniques into her practice.  She believes in the evidence-based mind-body integrative approach to therapy. She works with individuals and groups in stress management.

More recently, she has been training to become board certified in biofeedback. She also uses VR therapy for meditation and treatment of phobias.

In her co-located private practice, Dr. Kommu works collaboratively with primary care doctors to work with mutual patients with comorbid medical and mental health issues. She works with children, adolescents, and adults, providing individual and group therapy. Group therapy utilizes CBT tools, mindfulness, meditation, and gentle yoga to treat anxiety, depression, and chronic medical issues such as fibromyalgia and chronic pain. She currently also teaches a gentle yoga class for patients at a physical therapy practice. Dr. Kommu supervises doctoral interns, and she also volunteers her time teaching mindfulness and stress management techniques to local high school students in the Governors Program in Warrenton, Virginia.
